History

Founded in 1973 , American Black Belt Academy has been located at 2209 Michigan Avenue in Arlington, Texas since 1985. It is one of the oldest free-standing martial arts schools in America and continues to teach traditional martial arts, self-defense, forms, and fighting.

American Black Belt Academy was built from the ground up with a state of the art work out floor designed especially for martial arts training.

Master Wade Nelson is the owner of the Academy and follows in the traditions of Grandmaster Jack Hwang, Grandmaster Dennis Gotcher, and Grandmaster Roy Kurban. Following the same great traditions, American Black Belt Academy will continue to turn out the finest martial artists in the world.

The Taekwondo traditions and customs will continue to be passed down to all students that train at American Black Belt Academy.
